DAY 21 (494/597) on THE ROAD TO THE 2027 4th WBSC PREMIER12/16 and 180 YEARS OF BASEBALL – The Dawn of the 157th Year of Major League Baseball
Dearest fans, a Happy Opening Day Eve of the 157th Season of Major League Baseball!
Today, with the Giants and Yankees game in San Francisco, we officially prepare to raise the curtains for tomorrow, the day 6 long months of regular season action commences for the first and oldest pro sports league of the Americas and the world.
We prepare with great joy and anticipation to welcome back hundreds of thousands of fans who, after a preview of sorts and some of the greatest international matchups in the World Baseball Classic, are now back to cheering for all 30 teams of the MLB as they officially open the gates for a brand new year of action.
We also extend our greetings to all the participant players, coaches, managers, team employees, stadium staff and broadcasters who will also commence with great excitement this brand new season.
As the dawn of a brand new chapter of MLB’s historic journey is about to rise, let us welcome this new season with great celebration, hoping that together we will cherish the great moments that are to come.
For Glory

Call me John Smoltz if you want but I irrationally hate the idea of Opening Night.
1. Fuck Netflix. Why are we giving live sports to streaming services?
2. The previous games like the Japan or Korea series were cool because they were novelty and the logistics didn’t make sense to do the day before Opening Day. This is just a game in San Francisco.
3. Why the hell aren’t all 30 teams playing on Opening Day anyways?
grumble grumble grumble, call me whatever you want but I think it’s stupid as fuck.
Just wanted to plug the Opening Day countdown I’ve been doing on the sidebar for the last 50 days (remember to always use old.reddit!), and my annual Imgur album link for all the sidebar images used this year:

It’s downright sacriliedge that the MLB season opener is behind a 15 dollar paywall. Who is paying 15 dollars to watch one fucking game?
“There’s other stuff on it.”
Such as?
Let me think…Kpop Demon Hunters. Fine, maybe Seinfeld. What else.
So yeah, 15 dollars for one game and kpop demon hunters ain’t worth it.
Was looking at the history of perfect games, and it is wild the early few were sub 90 minutes. Kinda wild
Gotta question for anyone with mlbtv. I set mine up through t-mobile yesterday. If I were to share a password with my brother in a different market (KC and Chicago), what are the chances I get locked out of the account? Should I just keep it to myself and tell him tough luck? Thanks in advance.
What’s up with one night game to start the season? I always associate it with day games and the Reds kicking it off at home for like 100 years or something lol
Am I just remembering wrong or opening day is normally all 30 teams playing? Looks like they have a one off Netflix game today, but even then not all teams are playing tomorrow?
Because it’s only on Netflix and (respectfully) I’m not going out of my way to find a way to watch a Yankees game,
I just hope my boy JHL has a good game today. I know its the lefty, but still.
