How would y’all feel about Germ coming to Tennessee?

I think he’d be the perfect gadget wide receiver who is reliable for Cam Ward.

If you’re not familiar with his game, watch this video of him being a dynamic receiver in Alabama’s offense.

Germie’s Highlights

  1. What do we mean by “gadget player?” Someone like Taysom Hill or Deebo?

As someone who watched every Bama game last year, Germie is an excellent receiver who got hampered by their line and one dimensional offense. Measures similar to JSN and is an excellent route runner. I could see him developing into a WR1.

  2. My friend is a huge Bama fan and has convinced me that Bernard is the guy. I would love to grab him in the 2nd, or even better, if he’s still there in the 3rd.

  3. I’ll be honest you calling him a gadget guy put the wrong image in my mind. Thankfully I paused before sending my original message and went to watch his tape.

Dude is 6’1” 201lbs with 4.48 speed and a second gear that shows up on tape. And a 6.71 3-cone means he can win quick in the short area, while his 15.9 then 13.5 avg yds per catch is very solid.

His contact balance is impressive and he can line up at all 3 WR positions. His YAC ability reminds me a lot of AJs and he is a smart player who understands how to read the defense probably due to being a former QB.

I would not be mad at the Titans drafting him in the 2nd or 3rd rd

  4. Sign me up. I remember reading one draft analyst saying he may be the most nfl-ready receiver. Dude just knows how to get open.

  5. I would love it. He’s one of my favorite receivers in this draft. I think he has potential to be special

  6. He’s a mixed bag and I admit I’m not the biggest fan, I’d honestly take a shot on Zachariah Branch over him (dude has wheels and is a legitimate deep threat).

But back to Germie Bernard he’s more of a slot guy (similar to branch), can do a little bit on the outside but thats not where most teams will use him. Good hands, little under average 40… great ten time though he gives a little burst for short yardage. Great 3cone and in general a great route runner. Physically kind of average and can get bullied by more physical CBs.

I’d take Bernard in the early 3rd if he’s there he’s not special enough to really warrant and early 2nd.

Now if we were talking Branch I’d be fine trading down in the 2nd last year and taking him around where we got Femi. Legitimate long term WR 2 potential from the slot, can contribute to the run game, can also receive punts/kicks to give Dike a chance to take that next step or just alternate between the two.

  7. As far as a “football player”, the kid is legit. And that’s how I think of him . A really good player but possibly not a really good WR, just a “baller”. But sometimes you see guys like that that don’t translate well to the NFL. Whether it’s technique or struggling to find the correct way to be used. My only concern with him is I’ve heard he could be in that category. I’m going to wait until I hear more about his film from experts before I make a call on him.

Even if everything checks out with him I still don’t think the Titans would be his best landing spot with Dike and Robinson on the roster. Just seems odd to me to add another underneath weapon when you just paid a boat load for that in free agency and Dike out preformed as draft capital last year. I think they will be looking for more of a big bodied, field stretching, contested catch guy if the pick WR in the second.

  8. As someone who doesn’t like Alabama, Bernard is an excellent receiver, he is always open, and making defenders miss him.

My four favorite receivers in the 2nd and 3rd round would be Bernard, Branch, Boston, and Hurst. In that order. I talked myself out of Lane after watching more film.
