  1. If Nelson Velazquez had been the starting left fielder, Opening Day would’ve been rough – you know what I mean, Bernie? Nathan Church might really be a prize! I agree with you, JD!

Anyway, thanks for everything you do, JD. It’s great hearing positive, upbeat Cardinals fans for a change instead of all the negativity out there. This season has a chance to be a really fun one if we handle it right.

  2. Wow. Baseball is crazy. When we were down 7 to 1 I thought it was over. JJ and company were great with the bats. Also I see why oli sent Nelson v down. Church gonna be his left fielder. Go cards

  3. Church is another Jim Edmonds….Winn is another Ozzie Smith. Trying to remember the last power hitting 2nd baseman we had, but J.J is well worth watching. Maybe Walker is figuring it out, but would still rather see Velazquez in right. This just might be a really fun year to watch!

  4. That was my first opening day in person and did not disappoint!!! 5th cardinals game and never saw a comeback like that, IN THE SAME INNING!

  5. The 8 run 6th inning comeback is something we havnt seen the cardinals do in years. When Burleson hit that missle of a home run baseball felt like it was back to the Albert Pujols glory days in St. Louis. I am actually excited about this young cardinals team, theres a lot of talent. This team feels much different than the teams from the last 3 years

  6. Man I'll tell ya, when the Rays got their 6 runs, I thought this is going to be a loooong season. We'll this youngry Cardinals team made it a looong inning instead! I'm proud of the way these guys responded and excited to see this team continue to play with this type of grit! I sure hope they prove all of the haters wrong! Let's go boys!

  7. Can someone explain why OBrien got the W when Roycroft was the pitcher to finish the 6th and was “in” when the Cardinals took the lead? The broadcast was saying Roycroft was going to get the W also

  8. What a massively entertaining game! I LOVED the excitement and energy I saw out on the field and I think we will see a LOT more of that throughout the season. I have a feeling we'll see a lot more games like this one and they won't always be able to have a huge comeback like that, but they KNOW they can do it now, and that will instill a TON of much needed confidence in them. Gorman and Walker in particular. Those 2 guys needed that. They both looked way better at the plate than I've seen in the past, a lot more relaxed. And VS II inducing the balk? Oh yeah! Gimme more of that!

Ok Oli haters. You gonna give him any credit for this or are you going to find something that you are going to make up that he screwed up? Ok, scratch that. I don't want to hear it anyway.

  9. What I saw and got excited about was the never give up or give in attitude that these young men showed. As long as they keep that mentality they will go far. As Yogi might say; attitude is 90 % of the game. The other half is talent.
