I don't mind a QB this year. Then we can use 3 first rounds to get more talent instead of using those picks to move up to pick a QB next year

Ive been saying they should draft a QB every year since 2011. They need to hit on this position. Every year.
Look what happened 3 yrs ago .Top 3 teams in draft refuse to trade and pick their qb! Say jets win 5 or 6 games and the third qb next year is not better than simpson. Or you pick a qb next year and he us a bust. Rather take a educated swing this year and see what we got
If he has the traits they value, then get him bc he is sitting this year anyway save for meaningless games. If Gino is actually good (4000 yds, 29 tds to 8 picks), then he won't be playing next year either. Gino did those numbers just 2 years ago. Simpson sits like Jordan Love sat or Mahomes sat. At 16, pressure on Jets to play him immediately won't be there.
How much better would Jets be next year with 3 first rounders for QB help instead of 2 bc they will already have a QB. Why waste the year. Rookie QB next year and Jets will suck till at least 28. I'd rather be competing in 27 with a guy that already learned how to practice and train as an nfl player

It isn't ridiculous that Ty Simpson ends up being a much better QB in the NFL. Everything Orlovsky says is legit and Simpson was pretty polished for starting so few games. Scouting players isn't fact and theres no way to definitively say Mendoza will be better. Think about how sure everyone was about Zach Wilson.
