Simmons: “In an interview with NFL Network this week, Nussmeier revealed he’s set to have workouts with the Jets and Rams, as well as take a top-30 pre-draft visit with the Colts.
“I’ve got a lot of stuff coming up. I’ve got the Jets coming in the next couple of days here. I’ve got the Rams coming into town. I’m heading out to Indianapolis,” Nussmeier said on The Insiders. “I’ve got Zooms every day, and I’m sure there will be a couple more visits in there. So, I’m just grateful to any organization that’s going to give me a chance.”
The Jets being interested in a potential quarterback is no surprise given the state of the position on the club’s roster. New York is also reportedly going to have a private workout with former Alabama quarterback Ty Simpson. The Jets hold the No. 2 and No. 16 overall picks in the first round as well as the No. 33 and No. 44 overall picks in the second round.”

  1. Qb has to be an option at 44; id use the #2/16/33 on a starter that’s gonna come in and make an impact. 44 get the qb and next year draft your starter. Doesn’t hurt to have two guys developing at the same time. You never know. The 49ers had Steve Young AND Joe Montana.

  2. My only real problem wig Nuss is theres a significant drop off from Simpson to the rest of the class. In my personal big board right now theres about a 100 player gap between Simpson & Nuss. Which is pretty significant from a QB2 to a QB3.

Not saying i would be opposed to Nuss on day 3. Just personally i feel more confident in Ty becoming a franchise qb than Nuss.

And not saying im looking for a franchise guy this year or bust. But if im drafting a QB i want one i believe can be a franchise guy 10+ years from now.

  3. it will be smart to set up private meetings with those QBs … IF its only to boost their stocks so those QBs will be over drafted by other teams!… so that the jets could get better players at a better value!!!

  4. Can appreciate a team doing this kind of research. Up close look at skill sets and interviews to see where you rank them all. Plan where you might need to trade up, can trade down. Then the Draft blows up everything, and at least you can fall back on what you've learned and adjust.

  5. We are definitely interested in a QB. I am curious to see which one/ones we are okay taking. Right now I would say we are boosting Ty Simpson up for a possible trade back. And we are looking at Beck and Allar as the guy we will draft 4th to 5th round.

  6. If Frank Reich believes in Nussmeier, Allar, or anyone else at the QB position, then use a 4th-round pick on one of them. As all football fans know or should know, the QB position is arguably the most difficult position in all of pro sports to judge and predict development and success with. One never knows how any of them are going to turn out, regardless of when they're drafted. Making use of a 4th-round pick is ok since they have more than one of these picks.

  7. Yes, the best thing would be for the Titans to swap picks w/ us. But I cannot believe we will take a shot at QB w/ any of our 1st 4 picks. We need some really good players here. Why take a chance on a QB who will be on the sidelines this whole season when next year we have a very good chance of getting our franchise QB. Maybe CJ Carr from ND. Watch this guy! Awesome! I can see taking Allar or Nuss later on in the draft once we get some key positions filled. And don’t forget, Glenn & Mougey need to have a pretty good draft here.. u think there using pick 16 or 33 on a QB. No way.. don’t even think about it.. they’re just going through the motions w/ these interviews. Go Jets!! ✈️

  8. With the moves that Darren Mougey has made, do a draft show based on his tactics. Like trading the #2 pick for the #5 pick for a player and additional picks for this draft or next years draft.

  9. CARSON BECK, CARSON BECK, CARSON BECK! MY INSTINCTS TELL ME HE'S THAT SMART POCKET QB THEY NEED FOR REICH'S OFFENSE. YES, HE HAS HIS ISSUES, BUT THEY'RE ISSUES THAT CAN BE FIXED. HE JUST LOOK LIKE THAT PEYTON MANNING TYPE OF SMART QB WITH A STRONG ARM. HE'LL ALSO BE SUPPORTED BY A STRONG RUN GAME AS WELL; WHICH IS AN ENORMOUS ASSET. HE JUST LOOKS AS IF HE KNOWS WHERE TO GO WITH THE BALL WITHOUT HESITATION.

  10. Chad had weak arm but his brains were off the chart. And when he did throw deep he was very accurate. Damn shame we never got moss to come play with us.

  11. I put him in the same tier as Allar & Beck. Any time on day 3 is worth a shot on goal

Ian, if you get a chance check out DL Kaleb Proctor out of SE Louisiana.. both his tape & combine

  12. Any day on which the Jets are checking out QBs to draft is a good day. There's always a lot of talk about the Jets needing to fix their culture. One of the worst aspects of the Jets culture — and it spans from the front office through the coaching staff and right down to many of the fans (I can't speak to the mindsets of the players) — is the constant fear and paranoia over the possibility of "drafting the wrong QB." The Jets need to start drafting A LOT of QBs if they're ever going to find the right one. The whole organization has to stop thinking about QBs as if they're Lalique crystal. Just get them into camp and let them fight it out, big or small, young or old, drafted high or drafted low.

  13. I mean Mougey said they were going to exhaust all options via trade, free agency or draft so I’m not mad at them for doing their homework.
