Seiya, the other two are under arbitration for a while
Busch
2 of those guys under control into 2030s
It’s Seiya based on arbitration years alone. Busch had a genuinely amazing year last year on offense, but baseball extensions involve arbitration years, options, ect.
Horton is under control for some time and I think Busch we have until 2029. I’d keep Seiya if it were between him and Happ. He’ll be 32 at the end of the year. I wouldn’t mind seeing them extend Suzuki for 2-3 more years.
Is the question which of those players would we most want to ensure is on the team for as long as possible from a performance perspective or which of those do we think is most important to secure/extend as soon as possible from a business/market perspective?
Busch is not a free agent until 2030 and is 28….
Probably Cade because it’s harder to find good pitching.
If all 3 were going to hit FA at the same time it’d be Horton, but that’s not the reality so it’s Seiya.
Cade’s nest.
Busch is the safest bet IMHO.
Seiya 100%
It’s a fun question. But I suspect SOME of these positions need to turn over for the next guy as new prospects emerge. 1st base and right field are probably both turnstiles. So I guess my answer is Horton.
Horton. No question
Yes
None of them. I don’t answer random numbers, especially in the middle of the night. I’d miss the opportunity
Horton – young controllable starting pitching
It’s a trick question.
Horton is still on his rookie contract under team control through 2030.
Busch is under team control through 2029.
Suzuki is the only one on an expiring deal this year.
You extend Suzuki.
Seiya because he’s a FA after this season
Busch.
SEIYA!!!
Busch. Price keeps rising, but he is under control forever. Seiya 6/120 get er done
It’s Horton and it’s not even close. See if you can get him to do something stupid. Seiya is older and always gets hurt at least a little each year, much as I love his bat. And Busch is a good but not great player. If you can’t get Horton to do it for some absurdly cheap amount, move on with your life. But that’s who I’d try to get.
Seiya is the only one who needs one offered. The rest can wait a while
None…. The 2 to keep have several years left. I’d tell Jed to go get some starting pitching and get rid of the BP guys in our rotation. Trade Shaw while we can and get Taillon and Boyd out of the rotation
I like Seiya and if HAD to be offered then him, but we have a few in the minors that should get their shot.
Alcantara is going to take his or Happs spot.
This would have made a lot more sense with Seiya, Happ and Boyd or Shota
Ben Brown
Busch
I won’t take the easy way out, if all things are equal give me Horton. Tough choice though, they are all very close. I want to keep them all!
Seiya if he’s into being Mr. RBI again like in the first half. I’m convinced he decided to try to start hitting home runs instead when he only got on the all star team as an alternate at the last minute.
Cade horton we got hitters for long term pca nico breg we need pitching. I really like Busch a lot so I would like him for an extension for long term also but horton would be my pick seiya great hitter funny great cub guy but injury and some fielding concerns I worry about with him
