āItās a tricky one. I like Downs a lot, heās 8th overall on my list but the safety position is tricky. Derwin James didnāt go in the top 10, Kyle Hamilton didnāt go in the top 10, if Nick Emmanwori fell to the 2nd round, which is insane, I donāt know if you can say itās a lock Downs is guaranteed to go in the top-5, even top-10. I would say the floor for me is probably the Cowboys at 12. Maybe more in that range. Heās not 6ā4ā, 220 lbs, he didnāt have 6 or 7 interceptions. Heās just darn good, consistent, a force multiplier in terms of the communication and the leadership. Itās just the safety position could be a little fickle on draft day.ā

Never draft a safety, an interior offensive lineman, RB, or middle linebacker in the first round. Theyāre not impactful positions.

It depends if Sullivan/ Hafley see Safety have the positional value. Of those first ten mock picks the only one that has lower value is the RB Love. A lot of people donāt consider that top safeties get around 20 million compared to outside CBs Edge demand twice as much. So which makes more sense for a top pick to have on a rookie deal for four years. Something to consider
Very valid but if Bain is there along with Downs I go Bain otherwise Downs would be a great pick too
Bain Jr/Styles are the only defensive players I personally would want the Phins to take at 11, otherwise there are OL and WR's that would be more beneficial to the team. I also think the kid from Oregon, I don't want to butch his name, will be as good as Downs, and he could very well be available at 30.

DT runs as fast or faster than WR's and CB's if you want to play single high safety he is the best, not even close.

Disagree in downs, special player with all pro potential you donāt pass on those types position value be damned.. the goal is to hit and hit often on good to great players, stop getting consumed with positional value it will get you nowhere
