  3. Starting gibby on saturday was a massive blunder. I seriously can’t fathom why if Talbot was ready to go. Obviously not primarily his fault but you have to wonder if a fresh goalie makes some of those saves… The gap is widening but it’s not over. We HAVE to stop losing when everybody else does

  6. Would rather forget about Saturday but on my drive in to work today I listened to the latest WWP and they said there was a rumor that Gibson pulled *himself* against Philly? Anybody else hear anything about that?

    Everyone’s a performative emo sadboy until the April heater hits and they’ve suddenly been believers all along.

  9. Newer fans might not know the late-era Datsyuk & Zetterberg Red Wings were always white-knuckling it at the end of the season to sneak in and keep the playoff streak going. But it felt like they could just turn it on in crunch time, and win the games they had to especially at the very end. I’m remembering a 10-round shootout against the Wild that Darren Helm won to save the season.

    Current group is just the polar opposite. Not even playing that bad outside of the Ottawa and Philly games, but finding ways to lose in bizarre fashion. It must drive the coaching staff insane to see our PK go 0/2 against the league-worst Flyer PP. They’re just wilting under any kind of pressure.

  13. We win the next game and we are done with March. Then the team can go on a heater once the curse is lifted.

  15. The rebuilding years weren’t really all that hard; we knew the team was going to be bad, it was overdue, and we had hope that one of the best builders in the league was going to draft and develop a machine that would bring us back to the promised land in 5-6 years.

    Well here we are, 7 years later, watching another promising season go down the tubes, and having to probably wait another year just to crack the playoffs. This is worse than 19-20 ever was.

  18. I’m not happy with the results of this weekend, but flip the BUF win with the Flyers loss and look at the macro with Boston, Ottawa, Columbus, and Philly’s remaining schedules. How about we stack a few wins this week and see what help we can get?

  19. Started my first NHL be-a-GM career since probably the ps2 days and got Robertson out of RFA (goodbye 4 first round picks), Chabot (2nd, 3rd, JBD) and Lawson Crouse (Compher plus a 2nd) in trades

    why can’t steve do this? is he stupid?

  20. With everyone talking about these “3 point games”, my path for the Wings to make the playoffs is for them to get 3 points from a handful of the remaining games. Why hasn’t anyone thought of this?

  24. Obviously Ken Holland messed up trying to extend the playoff streak. Hypothetically, what could have been different and what year should he have pulled the plug. I lean towards saying 2011 and starting to accrue assets then. Those last five years of the streak really killed the future.

  26. Playing the Fliers two more times is actually huge for us getting chances at 4 point swings and a game against the jackets. We really really really fucking need some teams to lose still though  

  28. I hope this is a safe space and I can admit that I have given up on the team this year. The Buffalo win brought me back, but the Philly loss just convinced me that this team has too many mental pigeons. At least that’s what I tell myself because I have no clue what to think. The last 5-7 minutes of the Philly game has just left me so confused and infuriated. Although I’ve always known this team still lacks some talent, especially on offense, I do believe this team is talented enough to make the playoffs. But I’ve been watching games across the league the past few weeks and it just seems like the teams battling for the playoffs just want it more than us. That has nothing to do with talent, and has everything to do with laying it all out on the line when it matters most.

    You can give me a hard time for giving up when we are still right there and can make it happen, but I’ve seen this movie way too many times before that I would rather rip the bandaid off early and just hop off this roller coaster.
