49ers HC Kyle Shanahan was asked when are they going to move on from WR Brandon Aiyuk: “We’re in no rush to do that. … Hopefully, we get something for it.”

  1. SF is clearly being petty at this point. They know no team is giving up anything for that contract.

They’re starting to look like 🤡s.

  2. risk is too high to trade for him, but i don’t blame them for holding on through the draft.

  3. It honestly wouldn’t surprise me if they held on to him until like mid August just to spite him and reduce the chance of him having a positive impact on his new team (us). Kyle seems like a petty guy

  4. Very much a pipe dream, no one is giving up anything for his contract specifically. It’s less about the player (while still partly about the player) but more so just the contract.

Why would you trade anything when you can potentially dictate the terms? That’s how AP would be looking at this.

  5. Honestly, I’m a little surprised by this.

I remember when all that turmoil was going on with Trent and we look so ridiculous and they look like such a classy, upfront, player centric organization. So why would they give all that up? They’re not gonna save money, nobody’s gonna trade for him so what can they possibly gain from this except spite points that are just gonna make them look bad?

I mean, maybe I do have on Commander’s colored glasses thinking he’s FOR SURE gonna come here and he’s gonna come on a VERY cheap and reasonable deal. None of that is guaranteed but even if you told me he was gonna sign a massive deal with like Cleveland, I still think that the 49ers should release him now they’re not gaining and only losing by this.

3…2…1 until the Raiders give them a 5th….. there’s a reason I’m not a GM. But on the face of it, I think it’s a mistake for them.

  6. They’ll either cut him after the draft when nobody gives them a pick or right before September 1st when his option bonus is due. They have no reason to release him prior to that.

  7. I’m starting to think the niners were in the wrong. There’s something we aren’t hearing. FREE AIYUK

  8. Aiyuk needs to announce he won’t report to any team that trades for him and he won’t consider signing with any team that tried to.

And he needs to tell the 9ers if they don’t cut him he’ll retire and accelerate that cap hit

  9. Why are people mad at the 49ers over this? You guys do this to yourself assuming that the 49ers were gonna do Aiyuk or another team a favor by just releasing him. Of course they’re going to try and get something for him. Why would they not?

  10. Niners sending a message to nfl players. If you go to SF they’ll hold you hostage out of spite. Great pr move by their front office

  11. He is going to be a post June 1st cut, I assume, they are going to keep him regardless until the summer.

  12. The 49ers are delusional if they think that they will get much of anything for Aiyuk. No matter what really happened, Aiyuk basically ghosting the team did not leave a good impression. Then, who knows if he still performs at or near the same level that he did before his injury. We better not try and pursue him.

  13. Yeah, proving they just intend to be petty. I saw the owner also said “Hed like to see him play for us”, which is more lying, he knows full well they voided all of his guarantees, and he didnt get paid last year, so theres no way Aiyuk steps foot on the field for them again. Even camp, due to injury risk. They own his contract, and intend to make him pay, and we will see how that pays out for them in the coming years.

The truth of what really went down I suspect will come out in a year or two.

  14. I hate that AP came from this camp. If it wasn’t for Purdy they’d all be jobless
