Examples can include Wendel Clark, Darcy Tucker, Bobby Baun playing on a broken ankle. Without this heart, chances of success get much smaller.

One perspective of the Gudas/Matthews situation is that the team, lacking respect for Matthews as their team leader, demonstrated it by doing nothing in support. It is apparent to me that Nylander is not connected with the team's defensive requirements and plays his game and not the team's game. John Tavares is winding down an excellent career. The team needs new pillars. Get these pillars by dealing with the ones you have now to form a new foundation.

21. Nylander and Matthews aren’t getting any younger. I just don’t see management adding pieces to this team that will make it a playoff contender again in such a short period of time. The team isn’t missing one piece to the puzzle, we’re missing depth scoring, puck moving defensemen, top2 Dmen, and etc..
