Parker Messick DOMINATES the Dodgers; Guardians win the first game of the series 4-2

During the offseason, the Guardians gave their starting pitchers a message. It went like this: “We ended last season with six starters. We’re going to break camp with five. This is going to be a competition. Be ready.”

Rookie left-hander Parker Messick got the message, and he’s pitched like it since the first day of spring training.

It earned him a spot in the rotation, and Monday night it earned him a 4-2 victory over the Dodgers, who just happened to win the last two World Series.

  5. I said if we can get to the 32 game mark at the end of April with a 13-19 record, we should still be in good shape. Second strongest strength of schedule through April, just survive until the summer months and we can make our push.

    Also welcome back, Bull! Glad you're feeling great and excited to hear your baseball talk all season!

  10. You can see the impact of the mental game when comparing Messick to Gavin Williams. Williams has electric stuff but seems TERRIFIED of giving up the long ball. Messick, on the other hand, has half the stuff but twice the heart.

  16. I like Cade and I think he is an elite bullpen arm, but I just don't think he has the stuff to be the closer. His command is not great and not a good mix. Plus he seems to really get nervous closing games

  17. I want to see ralphy velazquez, and Travis Bazzana called up towards the end of the year. I’m not sure if they are ready but they are better than what we have at a few positions even if they aren’t.

  18. Parker Messick was amazing! A big hit by of all people Daniel Schneemann!? I'll take it but I hate west coast games. I literally lose sleep over these games. I am retired and at 70 years old these games are tough on me!

  20. Bull is really slimming down. Wonder why the Guardians no longer seem to use the blue road cap that G.Bush is wearing. They have the red/blue on the road and the all red cap at home.
