Evan Mobley was never Giannis.
Please watch these highlights. What made Evan Mobley so special was his fluidity and decision making.
You don’t not see him take more than one dribble before scoring until about the 10 minute mark.
At some point our development team tried to make Evan Mobley into a back down post up under JB and then to start the year a perimeter creator who stretches the floor.
Evan instead excels getting downhill and making quick reads in the paint.
Why am I bringing this up? Evan Mobley last night played this style of basketball and had a career night.
The goal of the offense should be getting him downhill, performing quick handoffs, and him immediately rising up whenever he has space with his length.
I don’t know why our development team way over complicated his game. The goal should have been always to add a midrange and a three point shot. Never to have him create off the dribble either in the post or on the perimeter.

He also played against bum Jazz players. For what it’s worth.
It seems to me that a lot of how Mobley approaches each game matters as to who the PG is. Most of this season we haven’t had a steady, starting caliber PG. With James on the team now, Mobley is being placed into the right spots and the game is easier.
It’s very obvious to anyone who’s followed the team that everybody’s role changed when we traded for Donovan Mitchell.
The most biggest change for Mobley was his 3rd year when JB decided that Mobley would be relegated to the dunker’s spot and 3 point line. JB felt that he was on the hot seat and couldnt waste time working on Mobley’s development the way you laid out.
