The Texans and general manager Nick Caserio have traded down in the last 3 NFL Drafts in order to accumulate more draft picks. The Houston Texans draft picks include the 28th overall in the first round and Texans Today host Jeremy Chuggs discusses how many of the Texans draft targets, such as Kayden McDonald and Peter Woods, may be available in the early 2nd round, even if Nick Caserio, Demeco Ryans and the Texans traded back out of the 1st round of the 2026 NFL Draft. Many 2026 NFL mock drafts have the Texans coming away with players like Blake Miller at 28th, or after a trade down into the 2nd as well. Texans general manager Nick Caserio also has a history of success in the 2nd round of the NFL Draft, Texans 2023 draft pick Tank Dell and Houston Texans WR Nico Collins are great examples.

  1. Third straight season trading out of the first round is so damn dumb. We could get the help we really need on the offensive line, cj has been running around getting beat up

  2. I like the Jets for the 2027 pick. But Cards is good also. I like the New England Trade cause we could possibly trade 31 to move back again and pick up more draft picks.

  3. Absolutely makes sense. 1) caserio is day 2 king. 2) we dont have a massive need to pick in the first 3) next year we dont have any extra capital so adding capital to a draft that is being viewed as a generational draft class in 2027 would be nice

  4. yeah, I think trading back is worthwhile. get more draft picks in the future which are cheaper than 1st rounders. which makes more sense? 2 or 3 players which cost 25%ish more than a 1st rounder alone on salary, but are better collectively than a single late 1st round player. 2 or 3 positions vs 1? I'll take 2 or 3.

  5. Surprised it took ya this long to make this video. Caserio has not missed on any draft picks besides Kenyon Green (not drafting Jordan Davis or Kyle Hamilton).

Trade pick 28 with anyone who has a pick between 31-37. Day two this year will be key cornerstone pieces for the future of this organization, going along with Higgins and Ersery.

  6. 😢😢 that is so stupid for the texans to trade out of round one
They are not gonna get their stud DT
STUPID IS A STUPID DOES FOR THE SECOND TIME ,
    😢😢😢 SO STUPID. THEY 😢😢😢😢

  7. Tbh I think it's smart to trade back. This year it makes sense because the Texans actually made moves in free agency to where I feel comfortable trading back to early second to get more pick this year to help win now. Then we can get a good DT, LB and o-line is all we need. I'd say something like trade with the Jets and get Jacob Rodriguez with the 33rd pick and our other early second either someone like Lee Hunter or BPA at any o-line positions

  8. This is the best year to trade down if possible. Honestly late 1st round is not all its cracked up to be usually all true 1st round talent is gone by 28th pick or so best values in 2nd and 3rd round still find quality talent.
