Dallas Cowboys news turns to the 2026 NFL Draft and how the pro day for Tennessee CB Jermod McCoy impacts the Cowboys plans. McCoy did have some impressive testing which might put him back in play for the #12 overall pick (or even earlier). But, as Cowboys Report host Tom Downey discusses, there are some lingering potential red flags. Plus, we look at how Aveion Terrell’s 2026 NFL Draft stock could be impacted by his hamstring injury.

Jermod McCoy had his pro day today at Tennessee and did show some good stuff. ESPN’s Adam Schefter had the initial report on his testing: “Tennessee CB Jermod McCoy, a projected first-round pick who did not play this past season while recovering from an ACL tear, just ran a 4.38 40 with a 38” vertical jump at 10’7” broad jump at the school’s pro day.”

ESPN’s Matt Miller reports he did position drills, but I saw only one clip and that complicates things. It’s also the nature of pro days where we have to be extra patient for all the info to come out. Jermod McCoy was “no-go” if he had no testing, but I’m not sure he’s fully into the “gotta take” range now. If we get reports that everything is 100%, then let’s ride. The one big thing we simply won’t know is how the Cowboys & the NFL view his knee. Even with what he was able to do today: it doesn’t truly lock in “the knee is 100% good to go.” Especially for the Cowboys and where they are at: are they comfortable with the risk? This could even end up being a scenario where Jermod McCoy fits more at #9, #10 or #11 than #12.

Cowboys draft news also includes Clemson CB Avieon Terrell. He had a private workout for teams on Monday. He didn’t test at Pro Day after a hamstring injury at Combine (just did drills & jumps). But he reaggravated his hamstring on first 40 attempt. It’s clearly a frustrating & disappointing outcome for Avieon Terrell. It means we won’t have full athletic testing on him and it’s an injury to note. But it also shouldn’t really impact his draft stock: He wasn’t a “hurt guy” in college. I don’t think there are huge athletic concerns either, so maybe it’s a “tiebreaker” at most.

Brian Schottenheimer wasn’t at the Tennessee pro day (30 visit focused) but was asked about: “Very important. I think they all are. But when you’ve got a guy who hasn’t played football in a long time. You see the talent, the skill set, but I think it’s really, really important … I’m pulling for him more than anything. It’s important, I’m sure it’ll be very well attended.”

  6. His pro day shouldn't change a thing. He's still damaged goods that hasn't played in over a year. Best case, someone in the top 11 will take him and drop someone else to us.

There is footage on YouTube of the drills it’s only like 10 seconds but he is definitely moving laterally.. quite nicely which matches the reports and I got to imagine he did more than 10 seconds worth of drills. So this lateral stuff has been addressed. Also let’s not pretend it doesn’t take a healthy acl to do what he did

  14. I like Terrell over McCoy (no hurt guys) and delane(I'm banking on him being gone) because I think you can grab him at 20 and he's scrappy. Imo depends on how the board falls by 12 if Dallas doesn't trade up(with the browns is what I want)

  18. At #12, you need an impact player. A player one year removed from knee surgery is not an impact player unless your name is Adrian Peterson. The Cowboys have too many needs to be playing Russian Roulette in the first round. The Cowboys cornerbacks seem to get injured on the regular every season. I am perfectly content to let another team take the gamble on McCoy. The other guy with the hamstring injury sure seems like a risk as well. How about a healthy linebacker?

  22. This is the mindset for the boys into the draft, if Sony styles still on the board at 8, trade up. If he’s already gone, wait til 12 to see if the lsu corner falls. If both are gone, trade the #12 pick to the jets for the #16th pick and the #34th pick. No other way than this Jerry. Don’t get an injury prone bum like McCoy

  25. Yes, if he is healthy and he has a private workout, that could ease their concerns. The Boys are not the only team contemplating him, either, so they need to do their due diligence. Something tells me several offensive players will be taken in the first 11 picks, so the Boys will have options, I bet.

  35. If I’m Dallas I’m taking McCoy at 12. He is the type of cornerback that Parker is looking for. Him and Revel Jr would be a good cornerback duo

  36. McCoy is an option at 20, not 12. My first preference is still to trade down and pick up more day 2 picks, draft Chris Johnson who is as fast or faster than Delane or McCoy and he is the most fluid mover of the 3 and plays both man and zone at elite level.

    As for nickel – give me Keionte Scott or Treydan Stukes on 2nd day instead of sore hammy Aveion Terrell in round 1, or even round 2.

  41. why keep drafting cbs that aren't good enough? we obviously can't recognize raw talent. Get a proven vet or two, use draft picks for LB from Georgia or best available player.

  50. If Downs, Styles, Bain, Bailey, Delane are all gone and he's there at 12. You run that card in immediately… No questions asked. I agree he's gotta be a 30 visit to have Dan Copper take a look at that knee, if all checks out you gotta take him in that scenario. Hes top 5 Talent if healthy. Huge gap from Elite teir 1 to tier 2 talent prospects in this draft. Give me McCoy at 12 and Mesidor or CJ Allen at 20 and i'm ecstatic about that 1st round combo.
