It seems many people are rooting for us to take Chris Bell in the 2nd RD (assuming we don’t take a WR with our 1st pick) and I just don’t like the value of where we’d have to take him. Obviously folks want it because Tyler was his QB…but Bell is coming off the ACL tear, is a poor route runner, not a hands catcher, has a limited route tree, and I just think there’s better receiver options on Day 2. Omar Cooper (if he falls), KC Concepcion, Elijah Surratt, and Chris Brazzell would be better fits with less risk. Ideally Carnell Tate with the 1st RD pick would be great too.

He had one of the best ACL tears you could have tho
Say what you want but he’s most likely going in the second even if it’s another team drafting him
You don’t know as much as you think you do
I think Omar Cooper is gonna be a late first round pick
I think the best receivers in this draft long term are gonna be Tate, Lemon and Cooper
Yeah, I think Shough needs to keep quiet about this. I absolutely hate it when players go public with any kind of suggestions. It’s right up there witb people who tell their mechanics what to do.
Carnell Tate got locked tf up vs Miami while Bell went off for 136 yards and 2TDs. Oh and as a reminder Tate is a WR2.
He’s definitely worth a second. He isn’t worth trading up in the first round
Bell was a lock for a first round draft pick before he tore his ACL. Some experts even had him as the number 4 WR in this draft. He has great size and was dependable. If we go D with our first pick, Bell would be a good pickup for the second.
Yeah I’m not too crazy about him either but I do think the Saints give him the best chance to reach his potential given he’d work real well in Moore’s offense and his chemistry with Shough.
Yes he is
💯
Do you have any genuine examples of anything to what you just said? Like going of him not being a hands catcher, neither is KC. His ACL tear, although concerning, was a clean tear and doing low risk workouts. And whole tate might be there with the first round pick, I’d really like us to go defense there.
Now second round? I do strongly believe that he could slide down to the 3rd/4th round. But then again I also believed Shough would be drafted around where Sheduer was because of his age and injury history so obviously I don’t have the slightest idea on value and would keep my mouth closed and be happy if we got him in the 2nd
Edit: not hating, really curious
UofL fan here, watched everyone say this about Shough last year. You’ll draft our whole team and you’ll like it
I’d rather have germie Bernard
Germie Bernard
People want him cause he played with our starting qb in college as if that should have any impact. Hey let’s just draft everyone Shough played with even if they aren’t NFL prospects.

He’s a pass from me as well. I’m really hoping we take Chris Brazzell in the 2nd. I think he best fits what we need next to Olave. He’s got a huge catch radius with great contested catch abilities, and can help stretch the field with his speed. Safeties will have to dial in on this guy deep with his size/speed because he can beat corners easily. That would help Olave a lot and if not he’s likely open.
I was banging the drum for him until I read that he doesn’t have a route tree.
Anyone who rates Chris Brazzell ahead of Bell I immediately ignore.
He was above average to elite in both contested catch rate and drop % last season with high target volume. Most of his drops came in his first two seasons but he improved at it in every sequential season to a great degree posting only a 3% drop rate last season.
He’s huge, physical and has great RAC ability, his route tree is fine the knock on him was finding spots in the zones but most scouts attributed that more to not being on the same page with Miller Moss. He has a few things to work on but he’s most definitely a 2nd round talent and exactly the type of WR we need.
