Chase DeLauter leaves with an injury & Shohei Ohtani shuts down the Guardians offense in a ugly loss

That thud you heard late Tuesday night may have been the bottom falling out of the Guardians’ offense.

Chase DeLauter, who hit four home runs in his first three regular-season games, left the Guardians’ 4-1 loss to the Dodgers with a bruised left foot in the first inning.

He fouled a Shohei Ohtani pitch off his foot and then limped down the first-base line after grounding out to first. It’s the same foot DeLauter had surgery on twice, once in college and once with the Guardians in 2023. | https://www.cleveland.com/guardians/2026/04/guardians-offense-goes-missing-in-4-1-loss-to-dodgers-delauter-leaves-game-with-injury.html

  1. Jose has slow starts normally. I think he will get the ball rolling soon. Manzardo will be ok he needs to get the batting average up. Arias and Naylor to me have been just awful. Rocchio honestly hasnt been the worst hitter but he has made some nice defensive plays.

  2. Jose's bad at bats seem to be increasing. Lots of swings at pitches he should be taking, which reduces good hitting counts and reduces base on balls. Also off balance weak swings that produces lazy fly balls. However the looking at strikes and swinging at balls also describes some other Guard hitters.

  3. They added zero outfield help for the second year in a row. That being said it's difficult to start the season on the west coast against 2 top teams. If we win today we finish above.500

  4. Like it or not, Dodgers and Shohei are helping baseball grow in popularity that is very good for baseball. It is probably second most popular sport in the US now. We can discuss the salary floor and cap but if you like the sport, you shouldn’t have a blind hate for the dodgers. If you are fan of baseball, you gotta at least acknowledge baseball greatness

  5. Both Jose and Steve Kwan hit two balls onto the warning track last night. When the balls left the bat, I thought all four hits were out of the park. I don't know if the weather was a factor in those staying in the park or they simply got under them too much. Those four at bats give me some encouragement for Jose and Kwan. It is too early to say that Jose is showing a decline.
