[Hultman] REPORT: DT Kayden McDonald is set to have a Top 30 visit with the Chicago #Bears

  1. I know he’s not the exact right fit for the scheme, but this dude’s best qualities are disrupting the run game and making interior tackles. Feels like those should be useful in any defense.

  2. I know its not a sexy pick, but damn it’d be nice to immediately upgrade one of the worst run Ds in the league.

Ive been sick & tired of 5ypc / everyone getting blown back 2-3 yards on run plays

  3. Dude can have an immediate impact on the team. Bonus: Toner setter or attitude setter lol.

  4. Why exactly are team visits considered news when it seems this is normal pre draft routine for most players and teams?

  5. This is my top choice for our first round pick. The kid is an absolute monster and can be an immediate impact player on our line.

  6. Poles said something interesting when interviewed by. . . maybe Hoge and Jahns, maybe someone else, I forget.

He explained, essentially, that it’s great to go for really high upside guys, but sometimes it’s also fine to just get solid football players.

Sounds to me like he’s telling fans “we’re not getting an A+ player in this draft. We’re targeting a B+ player.” And that would be fine.

  7. Stopping the run would be a nice change of pace from the past couple years.

  8. The Bears didn’t draft anyone from their top 30 visits last year. Trust me – I would LOVE to have this guy as a traditional run-stuffing tackle. LOVE… IT….

    BUUUUT….

He just doesn’t fit the profile of what Dennis Allen wants to run. It’s easy for us fans to say “who cares? He’s good, take him!” But when it doesn’t work out because he isn’t a scheme fit, and then goes elsewhere and has a good career because he’s a better fit on another team, the same people saying “who cares? take him!” will be bitching that he was a bum, and THEN bitch that they were right all along that he was good when he does well on another team – all completely ignorant that it’s because the Bears drafted a guy who DIDN’T FIT their scheme (if they were to do so).

I highly doubt he is a Bear come end of April.
