Draisaitl & Hyman Updates | Can the Oilers Finish First in the Pacific?

The race for the Pacific Division title is coming down to the final game, and Tyler Yaremchuk and Liam Horrobin break down everything on today’s episode of Oilersnation Everyday.

Even though the Edmonton Oilers were off last night, they still got huge help around the NHL standings. The Anaheim Ducks fell in regulation to the Minnesota Wild, while the Los Angeles Kings picked up just one point in an overtime loss to the Vancouver Canucks. With just one game remaining for each Pacific Division team, Game 82 will decide the final standings and playoff seeding.

Tyler and Liam break down all possible Edmonton Oilers playoff scenarios, including how they can finish first in the Pacific Division and what each outcome means for their first-round matchup in the 2026 Stanley Cup Playoffs.

Later in the show, former NHL defenceman Jason Demers joins to discuss:

The Pacific Division playoff race and Oilers vs Kings potential matchup
Injury updates on Leon Draisaitl and Zach Hyman
NHL award races and controversial playoff scenarios

Then, Daily Faceoff’s Matt Larkin joins to break down:

Stanley Cup Playoff storylines and East standings
Hart Trophy race and NHL award voting process
Potential NHL coaching and GM changes across the league
Young stars to watch in the playoffs

To close out the show, Liam delivers a new edition of Liam’s Board, plus daily betting picks powered by Bet365.

  1. We shouldn't be scared of any of the possible first round matchup nor underestimate them. Last year the Kings gave us a pretty good scare lets not forget that series was a sliver away from being near unrecoverable until the Kings threw in game 4 I think.

  2. Basing playoff performance on regular season performance is flawed reasoning. That’s why the Oilers are always predicted to lose their series in the playoffs. Teams take their play up a few gears when it means more. The Kings are older so they wouldn’t push them too hard in the regular season. Making it in is all that’s necessary, then you drain the tank. No team will be a cakewalk

  3. Leon Draistail has a knee injury hence why they said lower body injury and it probably took a while for him to rehab from it. Kris Knobloch announced that if Leon Draistail isn't playing for game 1 of the playoffs he's going to be playing in game 2

  4. LA has been playing playoff hockey all season long keeping games close. Forsberg also has EDM #. They're built for playoff series, the Oilers aren't. EDM still has the same issues that have cost them 2 Stanley Cups. They're a perimeter team now, they're not beating LA for a 5th time. I hope I eat crow later but I'm 97.29% sure that I won't be.

  5. Roslovic >skinner. Our 4th line is way better.. last yr was misfit and perry pulled it along. Rico did more last year but was a wash line. We have more depth..how healthy we are worries me. And stasney i hope can rise up when needed. I hope. Samanski we will need. I think if rico has a short leash and let him compete with samanski or if he even needs some days. Hes been way better since olympics but it was likely bugging him. Im most worried about dickenson and do not blme them fornbeing vague all year about injuries. Its forntheir safety/benefit.

  6. nobody is good enough to play with Connor,….Leon (just watch him carry the puck and watch what happens most of the time) and Zach don't know what to do with the puck except give it up once they cross the blue line..I'd like to see McDavid win a cup before he retires, but it's not gonna happen in Edmonton..and that's a shame on the organization…they have the greatest to ever play the game…they're gone in the first round….still, they're my team. Connor, you still have a few years left…go somewhere else…Edmonton has great fans but the organization is satisfied with you filling arenas around the league…they don't value the cup (it doesn't line their pockets)
