Matt Moscona breaks down a loaded NFL Draft conversation with Dalton Wasserman of the Preferred Walk-On College Football Show, diving deep into what the New Orleans Saints could do with the No. 8 overall pick. With names like Caleb Downs and Rueben Bain circulating as potential targets, the discussion centers around whether the Saints should prioritize elite defensive talent or address offensive needs like wide receiver help for their young quarterback. Wasserman also evaluates Rueben Bain’s NFL upside, compares him to proven pro players, and explains why his production might outweigh concerns about measurables like arm length. The conversation expands into how this draft class lacks elite blue-chip talent but is filled with solid starters, especially in the mid-round range, making value and fit more important than ever. They also touch on LSU players in the draft, including AJ Haulcy and Harold Perkins, and which Tigers could hear their names called early. Finally, the discussion highlights how teams like the Saints must balance immediate needs with long-term upside as draft day approaches.

  1. We need to go with a can't miss defense pick at #8. Based on the available D talent, that would be Edge (Bain) , Corner (Delane), or Safety (Downs). Then we use a R2 pick to draft Chris Bell at WR. I also feel we should draft Perkins in the later rounds and it might wind up being a steal.

  2. If you’re going defense, Caleb Downs is the safest pick. Delane is fine too.

No need for an edge in the 1st round when you have both Young and Grando already starting. Bain will not be a full time starter until Young or Grando is gone. If you’re going WR, Lemon is the safest pick even though he’s not the size the saints need but his YAC ability can’t be ignored saints need that too

  3. Trade down with Cowboys to get 12 and 20 and draft oleavega loane and Kenyon Sadiq then 2nd. BELL AND KIONTAE, then Mike washington or Jonah Coleman, and Caden Curry. Dominant draft.
