As Jamie Schneider and his family settled into their lower-level seats at Yankee Stadium on April 4, they hoped for a change. Maybe, the 22-year-old wishfully thought, the “incessant, annoying, droning noise” that the Yankees began pumping into the building midway through the 2024 season would die down in 2026.

  1. I couldn’t agree more. It drives me bonkers. It’s annoying when watching on tv, it’s truly unbearable at times when I’m there. They don’t let the game breathe.

  2. It’s a ballpark not an arena. Baseball isn’t meant for this. It’s so obnoxious!

  3. I pointed this out the other night. It’s after every single pitch when the Yankees are batting. It’s like forced brain rot.

  4. It’s all because of that cartoon guy with big ears. He’s always saying “I can’t hear you” even though his ears are gigantic.  It’s a tragic irony. I assume he is in charge of the sounds.

Also the “sound meter” on the Jumbotron explodes every game. They should get a better constructed device for measuring sounds that doesn’t explode every time it’s used.

  5. Loudspeaker: “I say, boom, boom, boom, now let me hear you say, Wayoh”

    Crowd: Wa-

Loudspeaker: “I say, boom, boom, boom, now let me hear you say, Wayoh”

    Cut the shit!

  6. “Scream Real Loud”

An inning later down 3-0, “Scream Real Loud”

An inning later down 10-0 when Jazz hits a single, “Scream Real Loud”

  7. I just love the first pitch Judge takes you get the intro to Fein, and the death star klaxon on the last strike of an inning but I can do without the rest of it for sure.

  8. Yeah last time I went to a game it flat out grew annoying after awhile, like they are appealing to the tik-tok crowd with no attention spans.

I wanna just hear more ambient noise during the game, and I wish they just let the game breathe.

  9. That Jason Zillo guy is a piece of work with those quotes.

Anyway it sucks at Yankee Stadium and also every other sports event. I took my kid to a Sirens game and we had to leave early because even with ear protection, the music and goal horn were unbearably loud.

  10. I go to lots of games. It is one thing I absolutely despise. Let me just soak in the atmosphere without having to hear, “SCREAM REAL LOUD” every 10 seconds.

  11. “You just dont understand the modern young fan. They need engagement every second or they just whip out their phones and start scrolling”

~Whoever made the decision to not allow a moments silence, probably.

  12. I’m fine with the 2 outs, 2 strikes star was drone. If we’re winning. Or it’s a close game

  13. Took my girlfriend to her first ever MLB game a couple days ago and one of the first questions she had was “what are all these sounds for?”

  14. I’m in my 30’s and nothing in life I have experienced makes me feel as old as I feel watching my team play at home. I have finally turned into my dad and mute the tv during games.

  15. I dislike hearing it through my TV. I can’t even imagine how bad it is in person.

  16. I was watching some old games from the 80s and early 90s and it was so refreshing to not have incessant noise. I remember going to games back then and you could actually have a conversation with someone while the game was happening.

  17. How could an organization like the Yankees be embarrassed about the pace of baseball. Fucking tragedy truly

  18. My favorite is you can’t hear the 7th inning introduction for our honorable men and women…

  19. I love loud clubs and music, and even I can say this shit started becoming too much last season

It’s so constant and for what?

  20. You have to wonder if there’s any data behind these types of fan experience decisions. For all the analytical crap they peddle us for justifying dumb decisions like sitting Ben Rice, I doubt they are basing these sound effects on anything.

  21. It’s like they brought the dj and sound system from Billy’s to Yankee stadium. Hell on earth. Won’t be going back until they make a change

  22. >However, Jason Zillo, the Yankees’ vice president of communications and media relations, said that Yankee Stadium’s never-ending soundtrack is part of a “concerted effort to increase the tempo and pace” during a game’s quiet moments in hopes of creating “an arena atmosphere” akin to an NBA game. That effort is part of a broader reimagining of the Yankees’ in-game entertainment programming, which has also featured more light shows since 2024.

Fuck this chud in the ass with a frozen pineapple.

  23. Yes, please! We don’t need constant sound effects in between every pitch; it’s too much!

Let the game breathe, and trust the fans to be paying attention. Baseball is supposed to have a calm vibe punctuated by exciting moments, we don’t need a constant barrage of stimulation. Almost nobody likes this extreme level of sound effects.

  24. I physically cannot watch the NBA because of the incessant “*BUM BUM* DEFENSE” chants that happen *a hundred times* every single game. It is the most annoying chant in any sport ever.

Yankees games are becoming the exact same type of crap. Constant noise. Gotta keep TikTok brain people engaged. I find myself muting the broadcast during home games because of all the noise. And I actually do like the YES commentators.

Feels like we took a trip to Dodger Stadium in October 2024 and the Yankees PA team was like “yeah lets have that level of noise at *our* stadium!”

  25. I would love see an article where they find the people who like the noise, since the Yankees’ PR guy in this article is so insistent that they’re out there.

  26. I could not agree more. The last time we went to a game last year, we could not get two words in edgewise with all the noise. Forget having a conversation or commenting even to each other about the game. It’s just constant stimulation, which makes it exhausting to go to a game.

  27. I knew it was loud at The Stadium.. but I figured the YES broadcast may have had some weird mixing as well. I flipped to the Angels broadcast the other night.. NOPE. It’s just loud AF. It’s been so annoying over the last couple of years.

  28. Can we also stop turning off the lights, or the new lightshow gimmick? It’s distracting. Attending a baseball game is not the same thing as going to a concert or MSG during a Knicks playoff game.

  29. There are two types of people:

    1. The type who dance in their seats to “move it move it”
    2. The type who write a letter to the editor after hearing “move it move it”

  30. Its part of society now. Movie trailers, all commercials, etc. They want to keep us stimulated 24/7. Because god forbid you’re “bored” for more than 30 seconds.

and wonder why half the country is on anti-anxiety medicine

  31. I think the most upvotes I’ve ever received on a post was complaining about the constant blaring sound effects at Yankee Stadium. NOBODY LIKES IT

  32. I went to the opening series in SF, first time to Oracle Park. Halfway through the first game my daughter said “This stadium is quiet, no?” They barely play any music or sound effects, possibly because of noise restrictions at the location…?

It was definitely noticeable to me as a Yankees fan. But I do prefer something in the middle between “dead silent” and “constant barrage.”

  33. I’m not bothered by any of it, but I like the organ player.

He plays like 8 Black Sabbath riffs a night.
