I really hope that Will Howard starts getting a little more respect from the sports media, especially this show after hearing that comment from his teammate. Now everyone can shut up about the Steelers needing to draft another QB… Howard is the future…
I hope they start him. Either he’s the guy. Or the more likely scenario, he plays like the 6th rounder he actually is and they get a high draft pick in 2027 & a proper rebuild can happen.
If you listen to what Cam said, he made it clear it was a good idea to use this draft to try and fix the other issues the team has. He didn't say it, but I will, they had a LOT of problems. Mostly on defense, where the highest paid group, 3 years running, finished near the bottom of the league. Nothing worse than seeing Rodgers more the team downfield for a score, only to see the opposing team pass the ball with impunity and score a touchdown in just a few plays.
This is not a great draft, and the QB position is bad. Ty Simpson would likely be a 2nd or 3rd rounder but this year, a desperate team might take him in the 1st round, but don't expect the Steelers to trade up, just to get Simpson.
Next year seems like a better year to try and move up. Whether Rodgers returns or not, makes no difference with the Steelers draft, they can't find a sure bet quarterback this year anyway. If he retires, then they take a late rounder, just to fill the roster and Mason and Will battle it out.
Rodgers comes back, then same plan, they seek a new quarterback next year. Remember, nobody really pegged Will Howard to be a franchise quarterback, he was pegged as a backup.
Listen to what cam said at the end …he says for will to be comfortable in that spot for when he eventually takes that spot l.. meaning QB 1 lol plain and clear
The Steelers need to roll with Will. What's the worst that could happen, they go .500? OR, Develope him into a starter that can get through and win one or more playoff games. McCarthy is known for developing QB's, let it happen. jmho
Born in Pittsburgh and live here. Steelers fan since Bradshaw Era. My peeps are so delusional. Howard is not and will never be a good-great qb that this league demands. We are just treading water.
Blah… Blah…Blah… All of this is white noise who shade Will Howard. Had a phenomenal last year to lead the Buckeyes to a national championship. Let's just see if he can be the guy or not. Every qb is different and no one can guarantee anything. I love what he brings to the table as a starting qb. If he's our qb of the future, we struck gold as a 6th rounder. Obviously if he's not,we take one in 2027. Who knows what we draft this year but he could also be in the mix as well.
