Update:

[Charania] The Bulls made clear that the organization wanted Donovan back after making sweeping changes to their front office, but Donovan held an option in his contract for next season and elected to step down after extensive meetings with team ownership in the last week, sources said.

Donovan determined he wanted to give the team a clean break, provide the ability for the organization to undergo its front office search and allow the new top basketball executive to make the next coaching hire.

  1. Someone’s going to get suckered into it but boy. I feel bad for the next guy that takes this job. Nothing will change until ownership/FO actually tries to compete.

  2. The most average way for the most average coach in the league to make his exit.

  3. Next up: Jerry Reisnsdorf parts ways with self. Everyone welcome the new owner of the Chicago Bulls, the Chicago Rat Hole!

  4. Billy wasn’t the problem but he also wasn’t the solution. Also this coming a week after Michael reinsdorf throated him at the press conference and said they won’t consider GM candidates who want to replace Billy is so classic Bulls

  5. lol ownership wanted to keep him above everything. He said “f that”.

Please sell the team to someone who cares.

  6. He’s a fine coach, just not the right coach for this team where they are. AK handed him a horribly constructed roster, expected him to make it gold, and he made it copper.

  7. Billy Donovan made the decision that’s best for the Bulls if they are getting a new gm, not actual Bulls ownership. Hilarious that he needs to do their jobs for them.

I’ll miss him here he’s actually a great head coach.

  8. He successfully helped us maintain our average of finishing 41-41 and losing the play in lmao just as Boylen intended

  9. Hooray! Onto the next era of mediocrity since fuck face Reinsdorf still owns the team. I’m ready to be whelmed.

  10. Good for Billy. Doing for the organization what it refuses to do for itself. His best decision in six seasons coaching the Bulls.

  11. I live about 3/4 of a mile from United Center and I think it’s time for me to submit my resume as arguably the greatest armchair coach of all time. Pretty sure I got this in the bag boys!
