Rudy Gobert believes he was snubbed in DPOY voting: “Not the first time I get disrespected, probably not the last. I’m gonna keep being myself. If they wanna disrespect greatness, take it for granted, whatever, sooner or later they’ll realize the impact.”

  1. The fact Jokic had to full on drive to the hoop and poster him to get anything down the stretch was crazy.

  2. i think rudy is a hall of famer, easily, and a god tier defender for sure

    but nah…

he won dpoy playing 56 games one year, because all the ultra nerds were like look at the impact, so clearly, it is recognized

and that season, with him on, best defense in the league, for sure, with him off, 10th best defense

AD that year played 75 games (900 more minutes)

his team was i believe top 5-7 with him on the floor, and literally worst in the league without him on the floor

  3. I’m gonna go out on a limb here and say I think he’s referring to not making the top 3. He knows he’s a great defender. He’s won four of those titles. But the man played with Wemby on the French national team and will probably play with him again. Yes. I’m a biased Spurs fan, but I’m not gonna buy into the “Rudy hates Wemby now” narrative that Reddit and the rest of the internet will eventually come up with for this short clip.

  4. The Marcus smart DPOY has to be one of the worst awards of the 2000s. Wasn’t even the best defender on his own team

  5. He’s way more impactful than people ever give him credit for. Not his fault he got surrounded by a bunch of defensive no shows in Utah

  6. I… kind of agree. Look, I think Wemby is the best defensive player in the league right now, but I have Gobert as #2. Chet is an awesome defender, but I think he has fantastic wings that boost his numbers as well.

  7. Ausar’s defensive impact is in no way shape or form as impactful as Rudy’s or Scottie’s. Dumb voters

  8. If the Timberwolves didn’t have him carrying their defense I genuinely think they’d be in the play-in right now.

  9. That’s the attitude you need to have to be a great player. You are the best, you go out and prove it on the court. Which is what he did.

  10. This might sound like a crazy take but Wemby is still the best defender easily in the league. But a lot of that is due to his insane size, if we are talking about the best “technical/skilled/smart” defenders in the league i think Rudy has him beat

  11. For context, he wasnt even a finalist

Yes, wemby deserved the unanimous vote but gobert not even as a finalist is moronic.

  12. I get what he’s trying to say but he’s a 4x DPOY. Tied for most all time. If he’s been snubbed his whole career what has Draymond and Tim Duncan been

  13. Isn’t he the guy who did this?

On March 11, 2020, Utah Jazz center [Rudy Gobert](https://www.google.com/search?client=firefox-b-1-d&q=Rudy+Gobert&ved=2ahUKEwjTuueH7_-TAxWtiCsGHUYqNLsQgK4QegYIAQgAEAU) tested positive for COVID-19, becoming the first NBA player to do so, which immediately prompted the league to suspend its season and acted as a catalyst for the US sports shutdown. Just two days prior, Gobert had mockingly touched reporters’ microphones to downplay virus concerns.

  14. It’s been over half a decade at this point, but I’m still salty over him from touching all the microphones.

My body hasn’t been the same since my first Covid diagnosis.

He’s a hall of famer, but he can get snubbed for every honor other than that.

  15. Can we start a crowd funded ad campaign to tell Rudy he’s not as good as Wemby?

  16. YOU GOTTA BE FUCKING KIDDING ME. WEMBY WILL GET AFTER IT ON THE PERIMETER AT LEAST

  17. He’s actually a liability quite often on defense. Yes sometimes he’s the best defender on the floor but not always.

  18. Bitch you’ve won 2 already. Stop acting like you’ve never got your flower.
