  1. I wasn’t sure if he was going to do it but he really pulled it out the last minute

  2. That’s pretty impressive given he doesn’t even play in as many close games as some of the other players.

  3. This will get 60 upvotes with every one of ten thousand crying posts about free throws getting 15k.

  4. For reference, Shai’s 6.5 clutch PPG is the highest in recorded history.

    Very deserved award.

  5. I’m just surprised the Thunder even had 27 clutch games to begin with. I feel like they won way more games than that by bigger margins.

  6. Deserved, he was pretty insane in the clutch. Kinda wild award too considering the 20 something games he sat the fourth as well.

For context he was scoring 1.4 points per minute in the clutch (125 total minutes, 175 points). Shoutout ANT who imo was the only competitor who had 1.43 (94 mins, 135 points)

  7. remember from like 2006-2017 when being considered “clutch” was like the main determinant for whether or not you were truly a superstar? im glad we have somewhat matured beyond that.

But yeah shout-out to Shai, there is no other player in the game Id rather have the ball in close 4th quarter games, he never lets us down.

  8. Best clutch time all year was his double dagger 3 against Denver a few weeks ago. Shit was insane.

  9. This is the guy that it feels like half of NBA reddit hates. I think the NBA has a real problem with their image and branding

The NFL doesn’t have the problem of fans hating their superstars. Of course you have the Tom Brady and Patrick Mahomes haters, but the league relentlessly markets their biggest stars and for the most part, there isn’t a huge negative discourse after each game about any player.

The NBA is such a soap opera, and it hurts the league when announcers are talking about players being “foul merchants”. It’s either negative discourse around the games or players wanting to move teams. How many fans are tired of hearing about some superstar wanting to force their way out of their situation?? Not just talking about Giannis, even though his situation has really been drawn out and beat to death.

Anyways, TL;DR, the NBA has an amazing player playing at the height of his powers, about to win back to back MVP and was also the clutch player of the year, literally played the best in the most important moments than anybody else. Yet, the constant discourse would make you think you are a stupid OKC fan (hurr hurr 50th in education)  because Shai is an AFFRONT to “ethical” basketball. It’s sad

  10. More stats

175 total points but only 125.1 minutes

9 more point in 57 less minutes than Murray
20more points in 27 less minutes than Jokic
29 more points in 60 less minutes than KD
31 more points in 33 less minutes than Maxey

    Ant is an interesting comparison
    SGA 175 in 125.1 1.4ppm
    Ant 135 in 93.8 1.44

But their records SGA 20-7 60 win pace Ant 15-9 51win pace
