Ayton: “I was just trying to brace the contact with Sengun and, you know, we both sweaty guys. I just slipped off his shoulder and my elbow hit him right there above his shoulders. It look crazy on camera, but I’m not no guy who who’s a dirty player or plays like that… my first ejection.”

that call might be one of the most horrendous call in recent history
He said exactly what I thought too. You can clearly see he was making a play at the ball and his forearm slipped off Sengun’s shoulders. I thought at best it was gonna be a Flagrant 1. I’m surprised the review center saw it differently. But I wouldn’t be surprised if they rescind that flagrant foul after reviewing it again later on today.
Thats literally what I saw, Ayton’s elbow slid off Sengun’s back
Does the league rescind flagrant 2’s sometimes?
That was definitely not a flagrant two. It should have been a flagrant one since it was still a hard and unnecessary contact to the head and neck area. However, it wasn’t a flagrant two because there wasn’t some excessive windup and intent (in addition to the unnecessary part of the flagrant one) to deserve a flagrant two.
Hes like the NBA equivalent of Lenny from of mice and men. Fully believe he didnt intend to elbow but hes so big and careless it just happens
Sengun: nah…
Ayton: Nah…
Literally everyone else: Nah…
Refs: FLAGRANT 2
They literally watch the replay in slow motion at the monitor. How in the blue hell did they see his arm hit Sengun’s sweaty ass shoulder, slip off upwards, hit sengun and decided that that was excessive contact
The refs were wild tonight just making egregiously bad calls, I’m sure it’s just another drop in the ocean though and nothing will change.
Thats like a textbook F1, it was an accident but kinda dangerous. F2 is for like full punches and extremely dirty things.
Its obvious he slipped. No one thinks Ayton is a dirty player.
I mean that’s literally what happened , just so happened that his elbow hit Sengun’s head
Even Sengun thinks it was a nothingburger
I agree. While he can lock in sometimes, Ayton is not competitive enough to sneak in a hit on an opponent.
Clear F1 since it was contact to the head, but if every single person involved, including both coaches, thought an F2 was egregious, you have your answer.
Ayton was the best Laker out there tonight. When he got tossed, it was over.
lmfao he was having a game too
my first EjectAyton
Is NBA the only sport where replay feels like it makes the sport worse?
They both sweaty guys
This is a flagrant 2 but Jaylen Brown elbowing Paul George in the nuts was just a common foul?
…. Like you don’t hold down the opponent player’s arm on jump balls, either. Naw
He’s right. He doesn’t care enough to play dirty
Did anyone else lip read LeBron saying “Flagrant 2? For that?” to James Williams as Sengun shot the technical free throws lol
It did look bad on slow mo but I believe him there was no intent. Sengun also lowered his position otherwise it would have been in his back
