Two months into the season, the New York Mets remain so much worse than we expected, while the Tampa Bay Rays are so much better than anyone predicted.

The all-in Detroit Tigers are somehow a last-place team in a bad division, while the rebuilding St. Louis Cardinals are legitimately competitive in a division full of winning teams. The Washington Nationals have a better offense than the Philadelphia Phillies. The Milwaukee Brewers are outpitching the Seattle Mariners. Jordan Walker and Brice Turang are in the MVP conversation, while Davis Martin is among the major league leaders in wins (and, admit it, you don’t even know which team he pitches for).

Baseball always finds a way to catch us off guard, and while this week’s Power Rankings reflect some of the surprises of the first two months, we’re taking this opportunity to make a few predictions about the next two months. And, yes, we’re prepared to be wrong about most of them.

  1. I don’t believe in us until we at least go .500 for an entire season again.

  2. Tigers are worse than the Rockies. Although, we are on a massive win streak right now so watch the hell out

  3. How are the White Sox behind 8 different teams with a worse record than them?

  4. Mets at 24 is a joke. I’d put them at 34 since our local AA team could wipe the floor with them

  5. What sucks is, sometimes my team looks like it should be higher up on this list, and then sometimes we look like we shouldnt even be on this fucking list.

Life as a Cleveland Sports fan I guess. Lol

  6. Texas just got swept by rank 29 and no hit by rank 27. They need to go down.

  7. I know we had a rough May overall but the Reds at 22 seems super low, especially to put them behind a Red Sox team that’s 8 games under .500.

  8. Positively flabbergasted to see my beloved Rangers at 13. Maybe because they look good on paper? But they are… actively terrible.

  9. I’m salty that we moved down the ranking beating majority > .500 while the Yankees moved up having a 2-9 records against them.

  10. god, this shit is so _freeing._

whatever ranking you gave my team, I’m okay with. Who cares? we arent supposed to be doing jack shit, so it’s all gravy!

  11. We lost one whole series this week and it still doesn’t bring our season total even with the Dodgers’ season total, and we beat them 2/3 at their place with the one loss being a giveaway.
