FAYETTEVILLE – Arkansas soccer (2-3-1) shut out Jackson State (0-5-0), 5-0, on Friday night at Razorback Field.
The Hogs jumped out to an early lead with a pair of goals from midfielder Zoe Susi. She scored the opener in the 12th minute, a free kick she took from outside the 18-yard box.
Susi doubled the lead five minutes later when she took a pass from Kennedy Ball inside the box and fired after one touch. The shot deflected off a Jackson State defender’s leg and rolled in the goal.
The Razorbacks scored again before halftime on another free kick in the 39th minute, this time from defender Avery Wren. Wren took the kick from the SEC logo and found the foot of Ball, who redirected it in front of forward Paige Szymanski inside the six-yard box.
At the half, Arkansas led in shots, 15-1, and corner kicks 4-1. Tiger goalkeeper Kianah Farmer made six saves.
The Hogs got off to a slower start in the second half until forward Vailana Tu’ua pushed the lead to 4-0 in the 76th minute. Tu’ua took on a pair of JSU defenders and fired just outside the side of the six-yard box for her first goal of the season.
Arkansas’ final goal came with four minutes left on Ivy Harding’s first collegiate goal, set up by Szymanski inside the 18.
The Razorbacks dominated in shots, 33-4, and forced nine saves. Freshmen goalkeepers Emily Jenkins and Julia Ivanova combined for the shutout.
