Greater Cincinnati’s marquee tennis venue has been transformed into a basketball court for a unique event.

The CareSource Invitational will be held Wednesday evening at the Lindner Family Tennis Center, featuring four of southwest Ohio’s best college basketball programs.

Cincinnati and Ohio State will play on the revamped court at 3 p.m., followed by Xavier against Dayton.

The scrimmages will give each team opportunities to face another Division I program as the new season arrives in just a few weeks.

“I’m a huge tennis fan, I’ve never been to a tennis match, I’ve watched every tennis documentary in this offseason, so I’m anxious to get in there and see what it looks like,” Cincinnati head coach Jerrod Calhoun said.

Calhoun takes over a Cincinnati program that parted ways with former coach Wes Miller after last season. The Bearcats are seeking their first NCAA Tournament appearance since the 2018-19 season.

As for Xavier, head coach Richard Pitino enters his second season in charge of the Musketeers and is excited about how deep his second roster could be.

“We have maybe the most depth that I’ve ever had,” Pitino said. “We’ve got a lot of good players and practices are very competitive because of it.”

Tickets for Wednesday’s event remain available online, including through Ticketmaster and Vivid Seats
