GAME NOTES
New Year, New Conference: For the first time in nearly 20 years, the Aggies begin the season in a brand new conference, preparing for action in the Mountain West for this season.
Built Bold For A New Era: Despite the departures of players such as Mika Ikemori, Maya Youssef, and Polina Marakhtanova, UC Davis retains many of its players from last season, allowing them to build a model of consistency in the new conference. Players Isabella Bringas, Vivian Gallaway, Aileena Hu, and Penelope Wong all return for the Aggies.
Newcomers Showing Out Strong: Playing in their first official competition as Aggies in Pacific, junior transfer Ramey Yu and freshman Delilah Rizvi had strong starts to their careers at Davis, both grabbing winning records at the tournament. Yu ended the weekend with a 5-1 record while Rizvi went 4-2.
Yan Among The Nation’s Best: Playing in one of the toughest regions in the ITA, new Aggie Elim Yan impressed at the Northwest Regionals by making it to the round of 16. This was the highest finish for UC Davis in the tournament since 2022.
New Conference, Same Ol’ Aggies: The third fall competition of 2026 saw UC Davis get their first look at the Mountain West in the Individual Championships down in Las Vegas. For the second straight tournament, Yan was the last Aggie standing after working her way to the singles quarterfinal round.
Another Successful Pro-Am: Before the start of competition, UC Davis men’s and women’s tennis both took their philanthropy skills to the test in the 18th annual Aggie Pro-Am, an event designed to bring alumni and community members out to the Marya Welch Tennis Center while also raising funds for both programs. This year’s event saw $50,000 raised for both teams as they begin play in their new conference.
A Strong Incoming Class: Made up of three freshmen and two transfers, the incoming class for UC Davis looks to be a strong one. Australia native Elim Yan joins the team after two seasons with Tennessee, while Ramey Yu comes to Davis following all-conference seasons with UC Riverside.
ABOUT THE OPPONENTS
The field will feature competition from local California teams, including Cal, Menlo College, and UC Riverside.
