The San Francisco Giants lost a chance to move into a tie for first place with the Los Angeles Dodgers Thursday, blowing a 7-2 lead and losing 8-7 at Colorado.

The Rockies scored three times in the bottom of the ninth to get the win. With the Giants’ loss, the idle Dodgers led San Francisco by a game in the National League West at press time Friday. The San Diego Padres were in third, two games back.

At press time, the Giants and Dodgers were to open a three-game series against each other at Los Angeles Friday night. The Padres were to open their three-game series at Arizona Friday, and the Angels were to begin their three-game series at Baltimore.  Â
