WAUSEON — Jack Altstaetter pitched a one-hit shutout and the Indians took advantage of eight walks by Napoleon pitchers for a 10-0 ACME baseball win in six innings Thursday at Wauseon High School.

Wauseon scored a run in the first inning on a sac fly by Kahle Albright and broke the game open with five runs in the third inning. Rico Vazquez had an RBI single in the third.

Vazquez finished with two hits, including a double, and two RBI. Altstaetter was 1 for 3 with an RBI and Albright had two RBI for the game.

Altstaetter pitched all six innings and shut out the Cats on one hit and five walks, while striking out six.

Max Shadle had the only hit for Napoleon.

Tucker Shepard took the loss, going two innings and allowing six runs — three earned — on one hit and four walks. He struck out three.


Date for MU men's basketball's ACC/SEC Challenge game revealed; women find out foe

PETTISVILLE — Pettisville began Thursday’s ACME baseball game with consecutive three- and four-run innings and held off Hilltop the rest of the way for an 8-3 win.

Creighton Aeschliman and Sam Hastings led the Blackbirds with a single and RBI apiece.

The Blackbirds were paced on the mound by Luke Horning, who tossed three scoreless innings to open the game. He allowed four hits and three walks with three strikeouts.

Pettisville (2-1) is back in action Tuesday at home against North Central.
