Left-handed pitcher Garrett Crochet got the start for Boston, pitching 8.1 scoreless innings before Aaron Judge launched a 443-foot home run to left field that tied the game in the ninth. When Boston failed to score in the bottom half, the game entered extra innings where things got more interesting.
Furious with a foul ball call, Yankees manager Aaron Boone was ejected in the 10th inning.
New York ended up being walked off in the bottom of the 10th, and several Yankees fans have been calling for MLB to make umpiring changes.
“umps need to get fined,” one claimed.
“@MLB @MLBUA MLB umps are the softest people on the entire planet it’s pathetic,” one added.

“robot umps can’t come any sooner,” added another.
“Miss this then throw multiple people out bc you suck at your job and are embarrassed?” one asked. “How do umps not have to face any accountability?”

DJ LeMahieu, who hit the foul ball in question, was also ejected for the first time in his MLB career. This led to more reactions.
“Now DJ LeMahieu gets EJECTED by Jeremy Rehak for simply SAYING something after a bad call?!” one wrote. “Didn’t throw his helmet, didn’t show him up—just talked!! These umps are SOFT and SENSITIVE!! Power trip like you wouldn’t believe. Baseball becoming a JOKE with these fragile egos!!”
