FSU pitcher Jamie Arnold is moving on to the MLB after three seasons with the Seminoles, and he is expected to be one of the first players taken in the 2025 MLB draft in July. The lefty is one of the top college pitchers in the entire country, and Keith Law of The Athletic is expecting him to be a top 10 pick.
Law released his second mock of the season on Thursday, projecting Arnold to the Pittsburgh Pirates with the No. 6 pick in the draft. While he has them going elsewhere, he believes he is in the mix to go to the Washington Nationals with the first overall pick.
Arnold had an excellent junior season for the Seminoles, headlining their starting rotation. He finished with an 8-2 record and a 2.98 ERA. In 84.2 innings, he recorded 119 strikeouts against 63 hits and 27 walks. He held opponents to a .208 batting average and has already made two All-American teams, with more on the way.
If the projection holds, Arnold would be the highest drafted Seminole since Buster Posey went 5th overall to the San Francisco Giants in the 2008 MLB draft. Arnold is looking to become the first FSU pitcher drafted in the first round since Luke Weaver in 2014.
The 2025 MLB draft will take place in Atlanta, Georgia, and last from July 13-14. The Seminoles had two first-round picks last year in James Tibbs III and Cam Smith.
