The Red Sox are donning the special attire for Friday night’s game against the New York Yankees at Fenway Park.
The Yankees and Red Sox are playing a three-game series this weekend in Boston.
Why are Red Sox wearing green uniforms?
Dubbed the “Fenway Greens”, these are the Nike City Connect uniforms being worn by the Boston Red Sox in 2025.
The green-colored jerseys are inspired by Fenway Park’s Green Monster wall in left field.
The uniforms have white letters and yellow numbers, a nod to Fenway’s legendary manual scoreboard.
Inside the collar, the year “1912” is stitched, representing the year Fenway Park opened.
The Red Sox have also worn yellow City Connect uniforms that honor the city’s annual Boston Marathon.
What are City Connect uniforms?
Introduced in 2021, Major League Baseball teams have been featuring alternate uniform designs that are aimed at honoring the history and culture within that team’s city. The teams wear the uniforms during select games throughout the season.
Do Yankees wear City Connect uniforms?
The Yankees do not wear City Connect uniforms. They and the Athletics are the only two teams in Major League Baseball that aren’t wearing them.
