Trinity outlasted Pleasure Ridge Park 2-1 in nine innings to win the KHSAA baseball state championship Saturday.It was the first time two Jefferson County teams met in the final game, and they needed extra innings to settle things at Kentucky Proud Park. Caleb Ricks delivered the game-winning hit, a single up the middle to score Grayson Willoughby with two outs in the bottom of the ninth. Scoreless in the top of the eighth, the Panthers’ Grayson Roll lined a single to right to score Brayden Bruner and give PRP a 1-0 lead. In the bottom of the eighth with two outs, Trinity junior Nolan Hosking got them on the board with a solo home run. It is the second baseball state title for Trinity. The Rocks also won in 2021. They finish the season 38-3. PRP finishes 29-7.
