KANSAS CITY, Mo. (WOWT) – Alex Gordon had his legacy forever cemented in the history of the Kansas City Royals Friday, as he was inducted into the organization’s Hall of Fame.
“I’m proud to be a Kansas City Royal as long as I’ve been,” he said at a news conference.
Gordon is a Lincoln, Nebraska, native who had a standout college career at Nebraska, helping lead the Huskers to the College World Series in 2005. Ten years later, he won a World Series with the Royals in 2015.
He said the Royals were his favorite franchise growing up in Nebraska, and spent his entire 14-year MLB career with Kansas City.
“This was my team growing up and now that this is kind of unfolding, it’s a dream come true,” Gordon said. “I keep telling everybody I tricked a lot of people over my years and that’s how I got in.”
