Although the Angels lost 2-0 to the Baltimore Orioles on Friday night, they’re nonetheless 7-3 in June and 2 1/2 games out of the AL’s third and final Wild Card spot. Trout began his Saturday trying to extend the Angels’ strong June start, smashing a first-inning, two-run home run off Orioles starter Tomoyuki Sugano.

Angels fans likely liked what they saw, and those running the club’s official X/Twitter account loved it.

“MIKE TROUTTTT!!!!” they posted.

Trout’s two-run homer, the 389th of his legendary career, was his first over 10 June games. It also marked his 100th first-inning home run, the latest in a long line of incredible achievements for the three-time AL MVP.

It’s been another trying season for Trout, although he’s at least healthy for a semi-contending team in mid-June. That’s more than we can say for the last two years, where Trout played 82 and 29 games on 89- and 99-loss clubs, respectively.

Trout entered Saturday hitting .224 with 10 home runs, 25 RBI, and a career-worst .752 OPS. He’s only been worth 0.1 bWAR in 42 games, though, and he missed nearly a month with a left knee injury.
