WELCOME to today’s episode of Cub Tracks news and notes™, a greatest-hits collection of Chicago-style beat writers and bloggers, ground from #Cubs, #MiLB, and #MLB baseball, overheated, steeped in writers’ tears, and then cold-brewed overnight for maximum flavor. No artificial intelligences were deployed, employed, entranced, or embalmed in the commission of this missive (apparently I might be training some though). Cub Tracks eagerly awaits the advent of robotic umpires and has already amended the three laws. The going is weird. Cub Tracks turned pro a long time ago.
Cub Tracks. Where the great ones run away.
Ken Rosenthal thinks Rizzo is headed to Beantown. Triston Casas has a ruptured patellar tendon and he’s out for the remainder of the 2025 season. Justin Turner has been mentioned also.
The Giants took two out of three so I suppose the meatloaf will be served with Rice-a-Roni. A possible postseason preview, and the results didn’t look good for OUR GUYS, who will take the show on the road to Flushing Meadows and hope they have something in the tank.
Ryan Pressly gives my GI the blues. He and Justin Turner are the authors of many of the bad plot twists so far and I’m thinking they might be best off in another burg. Porter Hodge is the guy as far as I’m concerned.
I don’t know what to do about third base. Matt Shaw is hitting at Iowa but his slg is still way lower than needed. On the other hand, his defense was just fine. We await developments on the Shaw and Cade Horton fronts as we prepare for tonight’s tiff.
Oh yeah. Don’t run on PCA.

USA Today has the best headline for this ever: “USWNT star Mallory Swnason, Cubs’ Dansby Swanson announce pregnancy of first child”. How old is this child again? Oh lort.
Food for thought:
