Will Venable spent just about one inning in the dugout for Sunday’s series finale between the Texas Rangers and Chicago White Sox.

The White Sox manager was quickly ejected from the game after arguing strikes and balls with home plate umpire Marvin Hudson. Venable and Hudson got into a heated exchange, trading a few words before the manager was sent away.

This is the second time Venable has been ejected this season. The first instance came on May 11, when he was sent away from a game between the White Sox and Miami Marlins.

For those keeping track, May 11 was Mother’s Day. Sunday’s Rangers-White Sox game was notably played on Father’s Day.

Venable should be a familiar name for Rangers fans. He had been an assistant coach for the Rangers under Bruce Bochy since 2022. The White Sox hired Venable as their manager ahead of the 2025 season.
