Americas falls in baseball playoffs, 8-7, season ends in regional semifinals
Three El Paso high school baseball players have received statewide honors by the Texas High School Baseball Coaches Association.
Coronado junior Ben Wilson was named first team All-State as an outfielder. Wilson had 55 hits, 32 RBI and 46 runs scored in helping the Thunderbirds to the District 1-6A title and a bidistrict title in the 2025 playoffs.Del Valle junior third baseman Diego Villalobos was named third team All-State in Class 5A. He helped the Conquistadores to a bidistrict win in the playoffs.Eastwood senior first baseman Brandon Gomez will play in the 5-6A All-Star Game on Sunday, June 15, at Dell Diamond Stadium in Round Rock. Gomez will play for the North squad. Gomez batted 366 with 10 homers, nine doubles and 28 runs scored this past season. Three El Paso high school baseball teams were ranked in the final Diamond Pro/THSB Top 20 rankings.
Americas was ranked No. 10 in Class 5A, Division 1. The Trailblazers reached the regional semifinals of the state playoffs.
Riverside and Clint finished ranked No. 18 and No. 19, respectively in Class 5A, Division 2. Both teams reached the regional semifinal of the state playoffs.
