The Wayne Falcons baseball team got their first and second wins of the season after a pair of losses the week prior. Wayne was outscored 27-3 in their two losses and 22-2 in their two wins.
The Falcons hosted East Union on June 5 with the Eagles dealing a 16-3 loss to Wayne. East Union scored the first six runs of the game through two innings before Wayne scored three in the third. The Eagles responded with 10 more runs combined in the fourth, fifth and sixth innings. Maddux Moore led Wayne with one of their four hits, leading to their lone double, and drove in two runs. Colby Holbrook, Gage Swan and Lane Ingram also had one hit each.

Holbrook got the start and pitched 1/3 of an inning, walked one and struck out one. Fischer Buckingham pitched the following 4 2/3 innings, allowing nine hits and 11 runs to go with six strikeouts. Braxton Johnston-Buckner finished out the game pitching the final inning, allowing two hits and five runs to score.
The Falcons faced a similar result when they played at Martensdale St Marys on June 6 ending with an 11-0 loss. The Blue Devils scored seven runs in the first two innings and added another four runs the following two innings. For Martensdale St Marys, it was their 10th win of the season while Wayne fell to 0-5.
Wayne was held to three hits Braden Werts, Swan and Bryer Hoover collecting on hit each. Werts also pitched 1/3 inning, followed by Moore pitching 1.1 innings of one-hit, seven-run ball. Ingram pitched the final 2.1 innings, allowing five hits and four runs.
Bentley Dodson, eighth grader at bat, currently Dodson has batted 16 times for the season with with at total five hits.

The Falcons broke into the win column with back-to-back home wins starting with taking on Nodaway Valley on June 10. Wayne scored twice in the first inning and four more runs in the third inning. The Wolverines got on the board with one run in the fourth and Wayne responded with a pair of runs and closed out the game with three runs in the sixth. Wayne totaled 13 hits with Ingram tallying four hits and Bently Dodson, Hoover and Buckner had two hits each with Hoover and Buckner combining for three runs driven in.
Werts had one hit resulting in a double and drove in two runs and Buckingham drove in two runs. Moore drove in one run with one hit and Swan also had one hit. Holbrook pitched all six innings, scattering five hits and one run while striking out nine.
The following night the Falcons put together the same result against Melcher Dallas, also at home. Wayne will finish out the week at Southeast Warren on June 12 and at Mount Ayr on June 13.
