NEW ORLEANS – Crescent City Sports’ live streaming coverage of high school sports for the 2024-25 school year concludes this weekend with the LHSAA Division I Select semifinal series between District 9-5A rivals Brother Martin and Holy Cross.
Coverage on CCS from Tiger Park on the Holy Cross campus will begin with Thursday night’s Game 1 of the best-of-3 series. First pitch is scheduled for 6:30 p.m., with air time at 6:20. Game 2 is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Friday, with a third and deciding game, if necessary, at 2 p.m. Saturday.
CCS’ Ken Trahan and Marty Luquet will describe the action for the opening game, while Trahan and Kirk Bullinger will call the rest of the weekend series.
Third-seeded Brother Martin (29-6) has swept Pineville and Ponchatoula to reach the semifinals to extend its winning streak to 12 games, while No. 2 seed Holy Cross (31-4) has posted sweeps of St. Paul’s and Acadiana to run its winning streak to 10.
The Tigers earned home-field advantage this weekend by virtue of being the higher seed, but the Crusaders swept Holy Cross in the regular season series in March by scores of 7-1 and 5-0 en route to winning the District 9-5A title. Brother Martin has won nine of the last 10 meetings in the series.
The winner of this weekend’s series will face either top-seeded Catholic High or No. 4 seed St. Thomas More in the state championship series next week in Sulphur. Brother Martin is seeking its first finals berth since winning the 1996 state championship in Class 5A, while Holy Cross is trying to reach the championship for the first time since 2012 in Class 4A.
With this weekend’s head-to-head matchup, District 9-5A is assured of having a team in the championship round for the eighth consecutive postseason.
