CLEVELAND, Ohio (WOIO) – The Guardians are on track to have one All-Star starter next month, and might get another one.
Jose Ramirez is the leading vote getter at third base with 968,754 votes. He lead’s Boston’s Alex Bregman by nearly 600,000 votes, which would indicate you can probably just count on him being the starter at next month’s game in Atlanta. It would be his fourth start in the Mid-Summer Classic and his seventh appearance in the game.
Ramirez is batting .324 with 13 home runs, 34 RBI, 15 doubles, 43 runs scored and 20 stolen bases.
Steven Kwan has a chance to join him as a starter. The Guardians left fielder is currently fourth in outfielder voting, the top three get in. Mike Trout of the Angels holds that third spot with 475,265 votes. Kwan has 457,882, so he is in striking distance.
The Guardians left fielder took a .300 batting average into the week. He was a starter at the game last year in his first All-Star appearance.
Voting ends at noon on June 26th.
