KALONA — Holy Trinity Catholic won two games and the tournament title Saturday in the Hillcrest Academy Tournament, beating English Valleys 16-1 and the host Ravens 4-3.

The Crusdaders had to fend off a seventh-inning rally by Hillcrest for the win.

Sydney Jarvis struck out 10 and walked one while allowing eight hits in six innings for the win.

With HTC holding a 4-1 lead, Jarvis pitched to three batters in the bottom seventh inning and all three reached base, scoring one run.

With runners on first and third and a 4-2 score, Ellie Hellman relieved Jarvis. Hellman gave up a single then induced three pop outs to end the game.

Jarvis went 2-for-4 at the plate. Emily Ross hit a run-scoring double for the Crusaders. Elizabeth Griffin also had a double. Kenna Gittings, Isabelle Behne and Cadyn Holmes each hit a single. Makayla Simpson scored twice.

Jarvis and Hellman each pitched two innings, giving up a combined three hits and two walks with four strikeouts.

Holmes, Ross, Gittings and Jarvis all hit a double. Holmes went 3-for-3. Jarvis went 3-for-4 with five runs batted in. Holmes and Gittings had two RBIs each.

Kara Lake, Hellman, Gittings, Simpson and Alivia Holmes each had two hits.

Holy Trinity has an 11-5 record and played Highland Monday then goes to Mediapolis Tuesday.

Jarvis’ batting average is .655, sixth in Class 1A. Her slugging percentage of 1.109 is fifth.
