First-year Miami Marlins manager Clayton McCullough was selected on Tuesday for the National League coaching staff in the 2025 MLB All-Star Game.
McCullough, along with 2021 World Series-winning manager Brian Snitker of the Atlanta Braves, were chosen as the NL honorary coaches by Los Angeles Dodgers’ manager Dave Roberts, who’ll serve as the NL manager for the July 15 game at Truist Park in Atlanta.
Almost halfway through his first season as the Marlins’ skipper, Miami sits last in the National League East at 28-42 entering Tuesday’s games, 16 games behind the first-place New York Mets. The Marlins rank 13th among the 15 teams in the NL standings.
The Marlins hired McCullough, a 45-year-old South Florida native, as the franchise’s 17th manager in November 2024, following the firing of 2023 NL Manager of the Year Skip Schumaker. Prior to that, McCullough served under Roberts as the Dodgers’ first base coach since 2021 after being hired by the team in 2015 as the minor league field coordinator.
A former minor league catcher who was selected in the 47th round of the 1998 draft by the Seattle Mariners, McCullough led winning campaigns in six of seven seasons as a manager in the Toronto Blue Jays’ minor league system. After declining to sign with the Mariners, McCullough played four seasons at East Carolina University before being drafted again in the 22nd round of the 2002 draft by the Cleveland Indians.
