KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) -A well-known Kansas City family is serving up more than just barbecue this summer. The Gates, creators of Gates Bar-B-Q restaurant, tell KCTV5 that they have proposed a stadium site to the Kansas City Royals.
The pitch comes as the team weighs their options for a new stadium.
Owner Ollie Gates hopes the Royals consider the site of the former ATA building.
Gates pitched the former ATA building site, near the Ride KC Headquarters on 18th St.(KCTV)
He believes that location is the cultural crossroads of the city.
“It connects downtown, Crossroads, the jazz district and the hospital district,” Gates explained.
Along with the stadium, Gates also pitched a royal tower that would be built near the Royals site. He says it would offer the full Kansas City experience.
