Former Cubs World Series Champion and Manager David Ross Predicted to Replace Braves’ Brian Snitker originally appeared on Athlon Sports.

The Chicago Cubs found themselves an excellent head man in the form of Craig Counsell. Counsell, one of the more respected skippers in Major League Baseball, doesn’t appear to be going anywhere anytime soon.

However, for other teams, that isn’t the case, whether due to below-average performances or coaches retiring because of age.

One manager to watch around Major League Baseball at the end of the year is Brian Snitker of the Atlanta Braves.

The Braves have arguably been the most disappointing team in baseball, and many suspect that Snitker will call it a career at some point.

That could be this fall.

Searching for a potential replacement, Eric Cole predicted that former Cubs World Series champion David Ross could be the one to replace him. It’d be an interesting decision to hire someone who didn’t find much success with the Cubs, but he was a 15-year Major League Baseball player, and there’s certainly value in that.

“David Ross checks a lot of boxes,” wrote Cole. “He is an extremely respected former player, seemed beloved by his players when he was manager before getting unceremoniously dumped by the Cubs, and it seems like he would be a blend of old school as well as a guy that would use analytics. On top of that, he doesn’t have a coaching job currently and played for the organization for four seasons. Ross does have three kids and he may not be itching to get back on the road again as a result, but the Braves should at least give him a call.”

Ross played for the Los Angeles Dodgers, Pittsburgh Pirates, San Diego Padres, Cincinnati Reds, Boston Red Sox, Atlanta Braves, and the Cubs throughout his lengthy career.
