NORTH AUGUSTA, SC (WJBF)- Atlanta Braves number one overall prospect Cam Caminiti may not have been the starting pitcher Tuesday night, but he’s embraced being a GreenJacket this season. The left-handed pitcher from Arizona signed on with the Braves on a 3.6-million-dollar contract. Earlier this month, he pitched five strong innings with eight strikeouts and one earned run.
The 18-year-old says he’s been getting lots of fan attention here in Augusta from braves country. He continues to home in on his craft so that one day he’ll be pitching at Truist Park.

“Just staying healthy, making a start every seven days that’s the only thing I can control at this point, how I’m eating, recovering, sleeping, and all of that goes into pitching once every seven days and that’s going to be the only way that I’ll be moving up and keep grinding,” Caminiti said.
Caminiti will take the mound on Saturday during Star Wars night. First pitch is at 6:35 p.m.
