WASHINGTON — The Keokuk High School baseball team lost at Washington Monday. The Chiefs lost a Southeast Conference double header to the Demons 12-2 and 12-3.

Washington improved its record to 4-9 overall and 3-6 in the SEC while the Chiefs fell to 1-14, 0-8.

In the opener, Washington scored five runs in the first inning and cruised to a five-inning win. Lincoln Wray and Bennett Church combined to walk four, hit two batsmen, strike out two and give up seven hits. The Chiefs defense committed at least six errors.

The Demons made one error.

The Chiefs scored their two runs on two hits and six walks.

In the 12-3 loss the Chiefs issued nine bases on balls, and hit two batters while striking out six. The Demons and Chiefs each made two errors.

The Demons and Chiefs each had five hits. Two of Washington’s hits were for extra bases, one was a double and one was a triple. Washington had nine stolen bases.

Three Demon pitchers combined to walk five and strike out 10.

Keokuk hosts Fort Madison (3-5 SEC, 3-15 overall) Thursday at Joyce Park.
