The Los Angeles Dodgers beat the San Diego Padres, 8-6, on Tuesday evening. The Dodgers left the tension-filled contest with an improved record of 45-29.
Part of the ‘festivities’ at Dodger Stadium included manager Dave Roberts collecting his 13th career ejection as a skipper. Both Padres’ star Fernando Tatis Jr. and Shohei Ohtani were hit by pitches before Roberts got his money’s worth and left the eventual win early.
Roberts said after the game that he felt the Padres “absolutely” hit Ohtani on purpose.
Additionally, the batters being pegged by errant pitches started on Monday night when Andy Pages was drilled by Padres right-hander Dylan Cease. Former Dodger Manny Machado took an obvious shot at the team following the errant pitch in the series opener.
Finally, the Dodgers got back a pitcher from the Los Angeles Angels. After making his way to Anaheim by way of the Rule 5 Draft, the southpaw returns to the Dodgers’ system after the Halos chose not to keep him on the roster.
